Palestinian Consumer Price Index Increased by 0.47% in July 2010
The Overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory with its 2004 base year (2004=100) reached 128.50 in July 2010, it increased by 0.47% compared with June 2010, and increased by 3.44% compared with July 2009
Analysis of consumer price developments for July indicates increases in the following major expenditure groups:
- Alcoholic Beverages and tobacco + 7.78%
- Transportation + 0.57%
- Miscellaneous goods and services + 0.52%
- Food and soft drinks + 0.45%
- Recreational, cultural goods & services + 0.24%
- Restaurants, cafes and hotels + 0.03%
At the same time, there were decreases in other major expenditure groups including:
- Medical care - 1.12%
- Housing - 1.08%
- Furniture, household goods - 0.57%
- Textiles, clothing and footwear - 0.48%
- Communications - 0.03%
Palestinian Territory regions experienced different overall CPI developments as follows:
- Jerusalem J1**: + 0.94%
- West Bank*: + 0.33%
- Gaza Strip: - 0.11%
** Jerusalem J1: those parts of Jerusalem which were annexed by Israel in 1967
* West Bank: Excluding those parts of Jerusalem which were annexed by Israel in 1967.kolonagaza7
